How to Remodel Your Bathroom on a Budget

It is easy to spend a lot of money on your bathroom.  With the huge number of designer options, nifty gadgets, and complicated systems available, bathroom remodels can cost thousands of dollars.  They don’t have to though!  It is just as possible to completely change the look of your bathroom for a few hundred dollars or less.  You just have to know where to focus your attention!

The Vanity

In addition to being one of the only permanent pieces of furniture in a typical bathroom, your vanity is also probably the part of the bathroom you look at the most.  So if you want to upgrade your bathroom, the vanity is a great place to start!

Vanity upgrades can be as simple as installing new hardware on the drawers and cabinet doors. You can also paint the cabinets, replace the faucet or sink, and replace the mirror with a larger or more stylish one.  You can even add a free-standing cabinet or storage space to help declutter your countertop!

Another simple way to change the look of your vanity is to replace the soap dispenser, toothbrush holder, and other countertop accessories or decorations.  Something as simple as a shiny new soap dish on a well-organized countertop can bring new joy to your bathroom routine - and it doesn’t require any construction work or very much money.

The Walls

Walls only exist to support our roofs, give us privacy, and help with climate control, right?  Wrong!  Your bathroom walls are a blank canvas waiting for you to add your own personal touch.  Whether you decide to change the paint color of the whole bathroom, add an accent wall, or just change or add some wall art, never underestimate the contribution the walls make to the look and feel of the whole room.

Floating shelves with small potted succulents are an easy DIY project, and shopping for new wall hangings is sometimes half the fun of redecorating.  Other projects like paint or wall tile may require a little bit of professional assistance (depending on your skill level), but they are still quick and affordable upgrades.  If your bathroom walls aren’t contributing to the room’s design, they are a great place to start when you want to change that design!

Choose a Contractor

While it is not as easy of a DIY project as some others that we’ve mentioned so far, new flooring is one of the easiest ways to completely revitalize a room.  Flooring sets the tone of the space, so if your flooring isn’t giving you the right vibes, a new floor is a great stand-alone bathroom upgrade

Some affordable flooring options (like vinyl tile) can be installed yourself, though you can always hire a professional if you’d rather get the job done quickly and don’t feel you have the experience needed to do it right.  Whatever type of flooring you choose, it is sure to make such a big difference in your bathroom that you’ll feel like you actually remodeled the entire room!
